German turbine manufacturer Enercon will supply its E-175 EP5 E2 platform for Qair’s 50-MW Cobadin I wind farm in Romania, marking the model’s first deployment in the country.
Enercon will provide seven 7-MW turbines, its largest onshore machine currently available, with 175-metre rotor diameters mounted on 112-metre steel towers.
Installation is scheduled to begin in July 2027, with the first turbine expected to be commissioned by the end of August. Enercon will also provide long-term servicing.
Cobadin is planned as two 50-MW phases, taking the overall complex to 100 MW.
Cobadin I secured a Romanian Contract for Difference in January 2025, while Qair subsequently obtained a separate CfD for the second phase.
The agreement is the first Romanian wind project jointly developed by Enercon and Qair and gives the German manufacturer an entry point for its latest high-capacity onshore turbine platform into a market entering a new wind-investment cycle supported by CfD-backed projects.
