Electric Power Industry of Serbia has contracted a concept design of the dock in Kostolac, since its construction is planned during the revitalization and modernization of power generation capacities in Kostolac, funded from the first phase of the Chinese loan.
Construction of the dock for the “TE-KO Kostolac” is planned for the end of next year, and it should be completed in 2014. The value of the dock construction for EPS is estimated to an amount between 13 and 15 million Euros, and to expand the port for public and commercial use it is necessary to provide another 8.2 million.
The working group for monitoring and implementation of project documentation for the dock in Kostolac held a meeting at “TE-KO Kostolac”, where they presented the design for the dock.
At the presentation they also discussed the possible technical solutions for loading and unloading of materials, as well as how to proceed with obtaining the necessary permits from authorities in order to implement the project documentation.
– The dock is being built for EPS, with a possibillity to expand it for public and commercial use. Specifically for “TE-KO Kostolac” stone for the desulphurization of flue gases would be brought in, and ash and gypsum would be brought out in quantities that are not cost effective for road traffic. All analyzes indicate that the investment is economically and financially justified. For public-commercial business a space will be reserved along the banks of the Canal 500 meters long, which could become a serious economic potential for the local community – said Dragomir Jevtic, a civil engineer from the company “Exting”, which worked with preliminary design.
Dock for EPS and Company “TE-KO Kostolac ” will be located on the site of the former winter quarters, under the restaurant “Carda”. On the left and right sides of the coast maritime zone, as seen from the road to Dunavac, a total of 220 meters of vertical pier will be built where loading and reloading equipment, stone, fly ash, gypsum and coal up to 600,000 tons per year, will take place, Jevtic said.
