In the week of September 29, solar photovoltaic energy production increased in most major European electricity markets compared to the previous week. The French and German markets recorded the largest increases, 25% and 22% respectively. Italy saw the smallest rise, at 7.1%, while Portugal’s generation grew by 8.0% after two consecutive weeks of declines. In contrast, the Spanish market registered a decrease for the second consecutive week, falling by 3.4%.
During the week, several European markets reached record-high photovoltaic energy production for a day in October. France set its record on October 1, with a generation of 117 GWh. On October 2, Germany, Spain, and Italy achieved their records with 283 GWh, 181 GWh, and 98 GWh respectively. Portugal recorded its highest October level on Friday, October 3, with 23 GWh generated.
According to AleaSoft Energy Forecasting, in the second week of October, solar energy generation is expected to increase in Italy and Spain, while Germany will see a decrease.
During the first week of October, wind energy production rose in most major European electricity markets compared to the previous week. Italy recorded the largest increase, 119%, while Germany saw a modest rise of 3.9%. France’s production grew by 36% after three consecutive weeks of decline. In contrast, the Iberian markets experienced drops in wind generation, with Spain down by 8.7% and Portugal by 40%.
During the same period, Italy, Germany, and France achieved record daily wind energy production for October. Italy’s record was set on Thursday, October 2, with 171 GWh, while Germany and France reached their highest daily levels on Saturday, October 4, with 953 GWh and 349 GWh respectively.
