EVN Bulgaria said on Monday it is investing a total of 6.3 million levs ($4.1 million/3.2 million euro) in a project for remote power metering systems.
Under the project, the company has installed 1,600 remote power meters since the beginning of the year, EVN Bulgaria said in a statement.
The company plans to equip 450 subscriber stations with remote power meter systems by the end of 2012 and to have remote power meters installed in all residential buildings in Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second biggest city, by the end of 2013.
EVN Bulgaria (www.evn.bg) is the power distributor for Plovdiv city and the region of southeastern Bulgaria, supplying electricity to some 1.6 million customers.
