Center for Ecology and Sustainable Development “Cekor” published last week that according to their information, German Company RWE does not plan construction of TPP “Nikola Tesla B3”.
Deputy President of RWE Board, Rolf Martin has recently answered the question about the construction of this TPP that this kind of the project in not in the plan of the company and that there are no studies about this project- it is said in the statement of Cekor.
Coordinator for energy and finance monitoring of this center, Zvezdan Kalmar, asked this question because Serbian Government published in the autumn that RWE plans to construct lignite facility in Serbia “Nikola Tesla B3”.
Climate changes were discussed on the meeting and it was made clear that continuation of severe and harsh consequences that lignite excavations have on population, environment and water streams, is unacceptable.
Huge number of shareholders, including institutional investors, warned that RWE cannot give up its program of including renewable energy sources and that it supposes to stop investing in excavation, coal and lignite use for electricity production.
Cekor joined these warnings and expressed hope that Serbia will turn to energy efficiency and some renewable energy sources before all and then to sustainable energy projects.
