The Ministry of Environment and Energy in Greece has announced a subsidy for electricity tariffs in January, reducing the final consumer price to approximately 14 cents/kWh. This subsidy, set at 1.5 cents/kWh, will apply to all household tariffs, regardless of income or electricity provider.
For households consuming up to 500 kWh per month, which accounts for 90% of households in Greece, the subsidy amounts to 15 euros per MWh, or 1.5 cents per kWh. Additionally, households eligible for the social household tariff will receive a larger subsidy of 3.5 cents/kWh for their total electricity consumption.
The total cost of these subsidies for the month of January is estimated at 20.9 million euros.
