Greek Public Power Corporation (PPC) said that the new lignite-fired unit V at TPP Ptolemaida will be put into commercial operation by March 2023.
The 660 MW units should be put into trial operation by the end of this year, with the start of its commercial operation expected in the first quarter of 2023.
PPC also said that it is planning to gradually increase its coal-fired electricity generation in the next 12 months, adding that is still committed to its decarbonization goals.
The company still plans to convert the new unit to use natural gas in two to three years.
