For the construction project of 665 MW natural gas-fired power plaint in Komotini in northeastern part of the country, Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) has granted an operational license to Public Power Corporation’s (PPC). The license is valid for 35 years and the project’s commissioning is expected by the end of 2024. Besides PPC’s project, RAE granted operational licenses for additional four gas-fired projects.
These include 826 MW power plant in Viotia, developed by Mytilineos Group and expected to be commissioned by the end of the year, 665 MW power plant developed by GEK Terna, also in Komotini, 826 MW project developed by Elpedison near Thessaloniki and 830 MW gas-fired power plant near Alexandroupoli, a project developed by Damco, a part of Copelouzos Group.
The authority is also expected to grant license for the conversion of the future Ptolemaida V power plant from coal to natural gas.
