Siemens Gamesa and the renewables subsidiary of Greek Public Power Corporation – PPC Renewables have signed two wind turbines supply contracts. This is the first cooperation between the two companies.
The first deal is related to 25 MW Doukas wind farm near Kastoria, where Siemens Gamesa will supply five of its SG5.0-145 model turbines with power output of 5.2 MW each. The second one envisages the supply of three turbines of the same model for 15 MW Koukouli wind farm near Kozani.
Both contracts include a full scope service agreement for a period of 20 years. Both wind farms should be commissioned in 2024. Electricity generated by the two wind farms will be enough to cover the needs of some 35,000 households also preventing the emissions of 105,000 tons of CO2 per year.
CEO of PPC Renewables Konstantinos Mavros, said that the company is committed in leading the energy transition in the country. Together with strong partners it is on track to meet its ambitious green deal targets. Collaborations like the one with Siemens Gamesa are essential for the company’s growth and the group’s green transformation.
Siemens Gamesa has 992 MW operational or under construction wind capacity in Greece. The company provides maintenance and servicing for 680 MW in the country.
