According to data published by the Hellenic Association of Photovoltaic Companies (HELAPCO), solar capacity additions in 2022 reached a record- high of 1,362 MW.
The total represents a 62.5 % increase compared to the previous year when 838 MW of solar power plants were brought online. With the additions in 2022, Greek total network-connected solar capacity has reached 5,488 MW.
In 2022, 341 MW of solar power plants were connected to the transmission system, while 1,021 MW of plants were connected to the electricity distribution network.
Net metering installations totaled 110 MW, which is about three times the total capacity additions in 2021.
Under its revised National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), Greece aims to reach 14.1 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030 and 34.5 GW by 2050.
