Hungary, Electricity generation from renewable energy sources has increased by 20.7 % in May
, SEE Energy NewsAccording to data published by the Hungarian Energy and Utilities Regulatory Office (MEKH), electricity generation from renewable energy sources has increased by 20.7 % in May 2022, compared to the same period last year.
Total gross electricity generation in Hungary in May amounted to 3,052 GWh, which is by 11.5 % more compared to May 2021. This is the highest amount produced in May since 2008. Nuclear- based electricity generation increased by 23.1 % year-on-year, while fossil-based electricity generation decreased by 10.2 %.
Some 73.3 % of the electricity produced from renewable energy sources in May 2022 was provided by solar, 17.6 % by biomass and 4 % by wind power.
The total domestic electricity consumption amounted to 3,879 GWh in May 2022, 2.6 % more than in the same period last year.
