The average price of electricity on the day-ahead market of the Hungarian energy exchange HUPX reached 117.4 €/MWh in March 2026, marking an increase of 3.6% compared to the previous month, when the average baseload price stood at 113.29 €/MWh.
At the same time, the average HUPX DAM peak price amounted to 103.52 €/MWh, which is 15.3% lower than in February, reflecting a shift in intraday demand dynamics and load distribution.
Traded volume on the day-ahead market totaled 2.79 million MWh, down 5.5% month-on-month, but still 5.3% higher year-on-year compared to March 2025, when it stood at 2.65 million MWh. This indicates stable underlying market liquidity despite short-term fluctuations.
On the intraday continuous market, total traded volume reached 1,084,927 MWh in March 2026, representing an increase of 11.5% compared to the previous month, highlighting growing activity in short-term balancing trading.
Market participation remained solid, with 116 registered members on the day-ahead market and 108 members on the intraday continuous market, confirming HUPX’s position as a key liquidity hub in the regional power system.
