State Secretary Responsible for Energy Policy at the Ministry of Technology and Innovation Attila Steiner said that the increase in solar energy capacity has saved more than 123 million euros since March.
Steiner explained that, in recent years, the utilization of solar energy has increased to an unprecedented level in Hungary, and the country already has a solar capacity of more than 1.5 times the capacity of its nuclear power plant Paks.
With the solar capacity increase between March and September 2022, taking into account the current natural gas prices, Hungary has saved 123 million euros, which corresponds to the energy supply of about 63,000 households, Steiner said.
