A new gas and condensate discovery in the TAL block in Pakistan was announced by Hungarian oil and gas company MOL. MOL said that an exploratory well flowed at a rate of 6,516 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The discovery is MOL’s 13th in Pakistan and its 10th in the TAL block.
MOL Pakistan owns 10.5 % exploration and 8.4 % production phase working interests as an operator of the TAL block. MOL’s partners in TAL block are OGDC, PPL, POL and GHPL and the company had nine successful hydrocarbons discoveries in Tal block already and a total of thirteen in Pakistan.
Gross production of the TAL block stood at 89,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the first quarter of 2020.
MOL is present in Pakistan for almost 20 years and has equity stakes in four blocks in the country, of which TAL and Marghala blocks are operated. The operated gross production level in TAL Block reached 90 million barrels of oil equivalent in 2018. The development of the operated TAL Block continued with the tie-in of Makori East-6 and Mardankhel-02 wells.
