Electric Power of Serbia (EPS) assistant director from Strategy and investments sector Slobodan Mitrovic stated that EPS started with partners from Republik of Srpska the construction of hydro power plant in upper Drina river, the project value 435 mil euros.
He explained that first technical investment documentation is completed as well as the feasibility and design layout and that next step is founding the joint venture company.
In the last few months EPS signed memorandums of cooperation with German company RWE and that Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy signed the same document with their counterparts from Italy. Nominated projects on Ibar river are in cooperation with Secci Energy from Italy.
Mitrovic also added that EPS is preparing the documents from Djerdap 3 hydro power plant on Dunav river but also the hydro power plant complex on Velika Morava river, the joint project with RWE Inoggi.
Serbian major electricity source are thermal power plants with more than 60%, power plants Nikola Tesla on 3 different locations and Kostolac power plant all supplied by Kolubara Mines lignite coal.
