Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric said today that the production of the mining and smelting basin RTB Bor increased by 20% and that a cycle of investment in the basin has led to the rebirth of the town of Bor and of the whole area.
Ciric told the Beta news agency that the business operations of RTB are stable and that an average salary at RTB is around RSD 60,000.
In the last three years we have managed to restructure RTB, said the Minister and recalled that the company a few years ago had a problem with the production and electricity bills, and even with the payment of the salaries.
After unsuccessful attempts to privatise RTB, the state decided to help the company, which has also reduced company costs by more than 30%, he said.
The big investment cycle involves building a new smelter, investment in new mining equipment and construction of two new copper flotation, he explained.
During the next two years we will have a brand new RTB Bor which will, instead of the current 25,000 to 30,000 tonnes of copper, produce from 80,000 to 100,000 tonnes per year, said Ciric.
