Japanese companies interested in TENT B3 power plant new unit14. March 2012. / Uncategorized
The construction of B3 unit in Power Plants Nikola Tesla from Obrenovac might be given to energy companies from Japan. With investments for 744MW new unit companies like Mitsubishi heavy industries, Hitachi or Toshiba would make significant breach on European markets. For this project the interest also came from China, but Electric Power of Serbia wants the best offer for this strategic joint venture project.
Last November Japan approved ODA loan to EPS in value of 250 mil euro for FGD facility construction in TENT A power plants, the contractor will be chosen by end of 2012 on international tender.
New unit investment is estimated at two billion euros, for new unit construction and lignite Radljevo mine opening.
According to Kato Asushi, Mitsubishi heavy industries senor European manager, they are interested in FGD project as they are one of the main facility parts supplier in the world. In projects like this the company always works with local companies. We see our chance also in construction of new power generation units and Mitsubishi itself can build up complete facility by its own.
For construction of third new unit on TENT B power plant the interest came from Chinese companies China environmental energy and Shenzhen energy group. Chinese Exim Bank last year approved 340 mil dollars for Kostolac power plant modernization. Despite all EPS is claiming that all new bids will be evaluated carefully.
Companies from Japan are interested in modernization and environmental projects and we could also cooperate on new units construction as well, stated Petar Knezevic TENT Director. Electric Power of Serbia has the task to locate funding partners for B3 for which we need technical partners as well and Japanese companies are ideal option. Out of all offers we receive we will select the most reliable bidder.
According to Serbian private sector energy consultants from business development there is a great difference between Japanese and Chinese energy companies. Chinese companies are state owned and slow pace decision making companies, while private companies from Japan are driven with profit and with faster decision making process. This facts might finally influence EPS in selection of its partners.
