MD Green Energy is preparing three solar projects with combined capacity of 74.6 MW near Fier in southwestern Albania, adding to the country’s pipeline of generation outside its dominant hydropower sector.
The proposed plants would have capacities of 21.9 MW, 26.5 MW and 26.2 MW, concentrating the portfolio in the same development area.
The company is a subsidiary of Albanian construction group 4 A-M.
Investment costs, financing arrangements, grid connections and commissioning dates have not been disclosed. Those details will determine how quickly the projects can move from planning into construction.
The portfolio would broaden Albania’s generation mix, although its contribution to supply security will depend on delivery timing and the ability to accommodate additional solar output on the network.
