A new solar energy project in Montenegro has cleared a key regulatory milestone, as the national environmental authority approved its environmental impact assessment, enabling Qair Montenegro, part of Qair International, to advance plans for a 60 MW solar plant in the Nikšić region.
The project, located in the village of Petrovići, will cover approximately 51 hectares and include more than 85,000 solar panels. According to the submitted documentation, the facility will use high-efficiency modules supplied by Trina Solar, while authorities confirmed that the environmental study meets all legal requirements and includes measures to reduce and mitigate potential ecological impacts.
This development forms part of a broader pipeline of renewable energy investments that the company is pursuing in the same municipality. Another project, the Jabuka solar plant, with similar installed capacity, has already received initial urban planning approval from the government.
Among Qair’s portfolio in Montenegro, the most advanced investment is the Rudine solar power plant, a 50 MW project valued at around 40 million euros. That project obtained its environmental permit in early 2025 and has since secured a network connection agreement with CGES. It is expected to become operational by the end of 2028.
