Today in Nikšić, underground mine Biočki stan was opened by Prime Minister Milo Đukanović and owner of Uniprom company Veselin Pejović. It was stated that Uniprom company invested 13 million EUR in reconstruction.

Aside from national workforce, Bumech company from Poland was hired, which is the continuation of their cooperation with Uniprom, Onogošt.me writes.

In his speech, Đukanović recalled that the Miners’ Day and the 68th anniversary of the founding of Bauxite Mines Niksic mark 10 years of renewed exploitation of red bauxite in the mine.

“This is one of the most promising branches of commerce that will significantly contribute to development of Nikšić and Montenegro. The investment is worth 13 million EUR, which were used to modernize the facilities”, he added.

He said that Uniprom plans to produce around 3 million tonnes of ore in the following five years.

“This would represent around 40% of current reserves in this mine. Since it began working again, this company mined around 370.000 tonnes of ore in Zagrad and Đurakov do. Exploitation of bauxite in Biočki stan will have an encouraging effect on Montenegrin commerce”, Đukanović said.

According to him, this mine will bring new chances for employment.

“Around 150 people should find jobs in this mine by the end of the year. I believe that this creates a new opportunity for the full valorization of national resources”, Đukanović concluded, promising that the Government will continue to contribute to improvement of business environment and increasement of national and foreign investments.

Owner of Uniprom Veselin Pejović said he was proud that this day is celebrated by opening Biočki stan.

“We wasted no resources to begin exploitation again. The others had doubts, but we believed because we knew that hard work pays off and that we can contribute to Montenegro becoming economically strong again. KAP and Bauxite Mines will contribute 50% in Montenegrin export. Our activity in these companies contributed to cooperation with 200 companies. Transportation, trafficking and storage of KAP and Bauxite Mines products makes Monte Cargo earn 6 million EUR a year, and Luka Bar 10 million EUR. Other companies earn significant incomes as well, and all together, they employ a lot of workers and provide life conditions for them. In this way, we support Government’s efforts to develop economy in Montenegro”, Pejović said.

The opening of the mine was attended by Ambassador of Poland to Montenegro Irena Tatarzinska, Minister of Economy Vladimir Kavarić, Mayor of Nikšić Veselin Grbović and many representatives of banking and business sector.
