Montenegro’s state-owned power utility EPCG has opened procurement for the main design of the planned 41.8 MW Krupac solar power plant near Nikšić, with the design contract valued at an estimated €125,000.
The photovoltaic facility is planned on the shore of Lake Krupac and forms part of EPCG’s wider effort to expand renewable generation and gradually reduce the role of coal in its portfolio.
Technical plans envisage ground-mounted photovoltaic arrays feeding inverter systems and subsequently low-voltage blocks at the substation. Grid connection would be provided through a new 110 kV overhead line linked to the future 220/110 kV Trubjela substation.
The design contract covers architectural and civil engineering, process engineering, technical equipment and electrical installations, alongside detailed bills of quantities and a full cost estimate.
The tender was launched on 25 August 2025.
