The Ministry of Economy has announced that the Government of Montenegro informed the public several times about the course of implementation of the project of HPP on the river Morača and about the memorandums signed within this field with several interested investors and countries, among them also the investors from the EU member states.

The Ministry has reacted to the claims of the NGO Green Home which announced that the Government of Montenegro had a serious intention to permanently devastate nature and that the citizens of Montenegro must become aware of this fact, particularly the citizens of Podgorica i.e. the entire Zeta plain, the inhabitants of which are closely linked to and dependent on the river Morača and the Lake of Skadar.

“The Government of Montenegro informed the public several times about the course of implementation of the project of HPP on the river Morača and about the memorandums signed within this field with several interested investors and countries, among them also the investors from the EU member states.”

In the announcement, it is stated that the claim that the Ministry of Economy insists on the existing technical solution is false.

“On the contrary, the Ministry is very open for suggestions and new solutions, only if they prove to be better than the existing ones. However, what the Ministry of Economy does insist on, as before, is the compliance with the highest standards in this field, the application of the best technical solutions while providing the best international practice within the sphere of environmental protection. All developed countries in the world have valorized their water potential and, in this sense, Montenegro is doing nothing more than following their examples”, it is stated in the reaction of the Ministry of Economy, transmits Serbia-energy.eu
