In April 2021, total electricity consumption in North Macedonia amounted to 687,240 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 11.9 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 431,145 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 89,922 tons. According to the data from State Statistical Office, 49.2 % of electricity consumed in April was covered by domestic production, while 95.2 % of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production. Total net production of electricity in Macedonia in April 2021 stood at 316,488 MWh, which is by 15.8 % lower compared to the same month last year. 192,987 MWh or 61 % was produced at thermal power plants (- 5.7 % compared to April 2020), 107,948 MWh or 34.1 % was produced at hydropower plants (- 22.4 %), just 1,020 MWh in CHP plants and 7,813 MWh or 2.5 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm. Production at biogas power plants reached 4,521 MWh, while solar power plants produced 2,198 MWh of electricity in April.
