In September 2020 in North Macedonia total electricity consumption amounted to 534,065 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 36.96 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 483,144 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 94,549 tons.
According to the data from State Statistical Office, 85.3 % of the consumed electricity in September was covered by domestic production, while 97.7 % of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production. Total net production of electricity in Macedonia in September 2020 stood at 429,838 MWh, which is by 6.6 % lower compared to the same month last year. 186,757 MWh or 43.5 % was produced at thermal power plants (- 21.3 % compared to September 2019), 71,568 MWh or 16.6 % was produced at hydropower plants (+ 31.4 %), 157,434 MWh or 36.6 % in CHP plants and 6,995 MWh or 1.63 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm.
