In November 2024, North Macedonia’s total electricity consumption amounted to 657,489 MWh, with natural gas consumption reaching 39.84 million cubic meters, coal consumption at 406,318 tons, and petroleum products consumption at 97,597 tons. According to data from the State Statistical Office, 82.3% of the electricity consumed in November was generated domestically. Notably, 99.8% of the coal consumed was used for electricity production.
The country’s total net electricity production in November 2024 stood at 510,062 MWh, a 4.6% decrease compared to the same month in 2023. Of this, 45.1% (230,174 MWh) came from thermal power plants, marking a 2.7% decrease from November 2023. Hydropower plants contributed 17% (86,802 MWh), reflecting a significant drop of 34.4%. Meanwhile, Combined Heat and Power Plants (CHPPs) produced 154,738 MWh (30.3%), a 30.7% increase compared to last year. The Bogdanci wind farm generated 19,351 MWh (3.79%), while biogas power plants produced 4,232 MWh and solar power plants contributed 14,764 MWh (2.89%) of the total electricity production.
