Gross electricity production in Macedonia decreased by an annual 14.6% in February, to 611,074 MWh, according to the statistical office Makstat data. Net electricity production fell to 573,531 MWh, from 672,274 MWh in the same month of last year.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross electricity production in February, although their production dropped 20.5% year-on-year, to 312,788 MWh. Hydro power plants generated 114,254 MWh (-27%).
In the same period, wind parks produced 9.3% more electricity (17,254 MWh), while solar parks increased their electricity output by 2.9%, to 12,976 MWh.
Electricity imports more than doubled to 150,344 MWh in February 2024, from 66,692 MWh in February 2023. Electricity exports rose 16.3% 131,680 MWh.
Distribution losses decreased to 99,621 MWh, from 99,644 MWh in February 2023.
