In August 2020, in North Macedonia total electricity consumption amounted to 525,962 MWh, natural gas consumption amounted to 36.72 million cubic meters, coal consumption reached 315,301 tons, while the consumption of petroleum products stood at 81,663 tons. According to the data from State Statistical Office, 94.7 % of the consumed electricity in August was covered by domestic production, while 95.8 % of the total coal consumption was used for electricity production.
Total net production of electricity in North Macedonia in August 2020 stood at 478,795 MWh, which is 10 % lower compared to the same month last year. 121,516 MWh or 25.4 % was produced at thermal power plants (- 58 % compared to August 2019), 181,554 MWh or 37.9 % was produced at hydropower plants (+ 95.5 %), 158,918 MWh or 33.2 % in CHP plants and 9,350 MWh or 1.95 % was produced by Bogdanci wind farm.
