YESS Power has completed and commissioned a 60 MWh battery energy storage system at the Novaci solar power plant in North Macedonia, marking a major step forward for large-scale storage deployment in the country.
The company, acting as the storage arm of Topkapi Endustri, handled the full project scope, including engineering design, equipment procurement, on-site assembly and system commissioning. The battery system was delivered in cooperation with Cubenergy, which supplied the storage technology.
With the new battery integration, the Novaci facility becomes the first hybrid solar-plus-storage plant of this scale in both the country and the wider Western Balkans. Although investment figures were not disclosed, the project signals growing confidence in storage-backed renewables.
The solar plant itself has an installed capacity of 55 MW and has been in operation since 2023, producing about 85 GWh annually, enough to supply roughly 30,000 households. Ownership and operation of the site belong to domestic renewable energy developer Mey Energy, reinforcing the role of local companies in the region’s energy transition.
