Directors of Serbian and Montenegrin state-owned power utilities EPS and EPCG said in a joint statement that the launch of a project for the construction of hydropower plant Komarnica, which will be built in cooperation between the two companies, is very near.
EPS Director Milorad Grcic reminded that the HPP Komarnica project was first discussed in 1972 and that there had been intensive efforts toward preparing the feasibility study and the preliminary project in the past few years. He added that the project was effectively re-launched in 2018 and pointed out that it was very important for Serbia and that it fits into the EPS’ goal to increase its renewable energy capacities.
The future HPP Komarnica will have installed capacity of 155 MW and the expected project’s cost is around 265 million euros, of which 51 % will be financed by Montenegro and the rest by Serbia.
