Workers of HPP “Djerdap 1“ successfully keep on with installation of the new A-4 within the rehabilitation of our greatest hydropower plant. In mid-April, they have completed the installation of the massive parts and assemblies having dimensions expressed in meters, weight in dozens and even hundreds of tons.
Firstly, upon successful recovery and AK3 pipeline elements, they have installed the turbine impeller, a remarkable part of hydromechanical equipment, weighing 350 tons. The operation is organized in two shifts, and in three as appropriate, every day, on Saturdays and holiday. After having installed the distributor, the turbine shaft is to be installed, the vital part of the turbine equipment, weighing 95 tons, nine meters long and 1,600mm in diameter; after that, the turbine power unit, precisely the assembly made of turbine cap, neck, regulation ring and two servo-motors, weighing altogether 180 tons is also to be installed.
In early April, upon installation of the supporting bearing in the bed, the heaviest and largest single part of the powerful machine – the rotor of the main generator has been laid down.
This vital part, 14.5 meters in diameter and weighing 680 tons having 84 poles, has been revitalized in the assembly area, at the entrance of the mechanical workshop. From there, by means of two powerful cranes, of capacity 400 tons each, it has been moved to its bearing. Previously, some poles have been dismantled, in order to reduce the load by hundredsome tons. Upon installing the main generator rotor, in mid-April the upper cross was mounted, and oil head is yet to be installed.
Working together
Earlier on, precisely last year, the craftsmen of “Sever“ completed the mounting of the main generator stator. However, there is a lot work yet to be done, and the craftsmen of “Sever“ and “Goša“ as well as experts of renowned Institutes of Belgrade joined the workers of “Djerdap“ and “Djerdap usluge“ to help them. There are more demanding rehabilitation activities left yet to be done. Among other things, the installation of the turbine regulation system, installation of the control system, which should be followed by protection and monitoring of power units, as well as various tests, adjustments and corrections of parts and components.
