The Regulatory Commission for Electricity of the Republic of Srpska (RERS) adopted amendments to the tariff system for the sale of electricity and the use of the distribution network, which eliminated deficiencies in the tariff system that the Constitutional Court of the RS declared unconstitutional on February 28.
In addition, the RERS decided on the early entry into force of the new tariff system, which specified that the new tariff system enters into force the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
The reason for the early entry into force is that today in the Official Gazette of the RS, the decision of the Constitutional Court of the RS declaring unconstitutional the decision of the RERS on tariff positions from December 15, 2022, was published and thus entered into force.
According to the interpretation of those in the know, the new decision of RERS on tariff positions will practically not change anything in the calculation and prices of electricity for consumers.
– The price of electricity will be calculated in the same way as under the previous tariff system, which was declared unconstitutional. Simply put, the RERS defined and classified the terms “distribution system users” and “electricity buyers” in a wrong way with the current tariff system, and the Constitutional Court found it unconstitutional – explains the interlocutor from Eeletroprivreda RS.
