Romania, 1 GW solar project will add 500 MW in storage capacity
, SEE Energy NewsThe construction of the largest solar power plant in Europe, an investment worth 800 million euros, should be launched this summer in the Pilu- Graniceri area in Arad county, with the project to be accompanied by a second investment, of some 200 million euros, in an energy storage unit, which is also the largest in Europe.
According to the mayor of Graniceri Petru Claudiu Batrinut, the investor applied for the issuance of the urban planning certificate for the construction of a battery storage with the capacity of 500 MW. He also said that the construction of the plant should start in July or August.
Last November, British Rezolv Energy has acquired from Monsson Group the late-stage development rights for the project of a 1GW solar power plant in Arad county in western Romania. The solar power plant should enter commercial operation in 2025 when it is planned to cover the energy needs of some 1 million people.
