The average price of electricity on day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM amounted to 52.8 euros/MWh in January 2020, which is 29.61 % lower compared to the same month in 2019 and 29.13 % higher compared to the previous month, when average baseload price amounted to 40.89 euros/MWh. Traded volume in January reached 2.853 million MWh, which is 21.19 % more than in January 2019, and 37.72 % more than in December 2019. Average traded volume in January 2020 amounted to 2,853.3 MWh/h. The total value of transactions in January amounted to 153.49 million euros, which is by 40.8 % lower compared to January last year (184.86 million euros) and 72.25 % higher than in the previous month (89.11 million euros).
The share of day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in January 2020 amounted to 54.35 %. A total of 62,543.2 MWh was traded on intraday market in January, with an average price of 41.5 euros/MWh. Total traded volume for bilateral contracts with delivery in January amounted to 1.597 million MWh, with an average price of 55.93 euros/MWh.
