Romanian gas distributor Distrigaz Sud Retele allocated approximately €112 million to its distribution system in 2025, focusing on infrastructure modernization and network growth.
A significant share, around €71 million, was dedicated to replacing aging components and enhancing operational safety. The company continued replacing steel pipelines with polyethylene alternatives, offering greater durability and improved technical performance. In 2025 alone, 162 kilometers of pipelines and service lines were renewed, alongside the replacement of roughly 15,500 pressure regulation and metering units and over 201,000 gas meters.
The remaining €41 million (37% of the annual budget) supported expansion projects to connect new consumers, adding 380 kilometers of new distribution lines and about 13,000 new connections, bringing 46,300 additional customers into the system.
Distrigaz Sud Retele also advanced digital transformation, becoming the first natural gas distributor in Romania to launch the ePortalDGSR customer platform.
Since entering the energy market 21 years ago, the company has invested approximately €1.3 billion. During this period, the network length nearly doubled from 14,200 km to 24,483 km, with around 8,936 km of pipelines rehabilitated and the share of polyethylene infrastructure rising from 23% to 75%. Meanwhile, the customer base expanded to over 2.32 million connections, roughly twice the number at the start of its operations.
