Romanian electricity distributor and supplier Electrica has completed the acquisition of Sunwind Energy, which is developing the project for the construction of 27 MW Satu Mare 2 solar power plant. The project is in the “ready to build” phase and is located near the village of Botiz in Satu Mare county, northwestern Romania.

Electrica CEO Alexandru Chirita said that, according to the commitment the company assumed at a strategic level towards its stakeholders, it is continuing the process of expanding its activities in the field of electricity production from renewable sources.

In early February, the company completed the acquisition of the company developing the Vulturu solar project. From Electrica’s perspective, such approaches are not only of particular importance from the point of view of business strategy, but have also become a necessity at the industry level.

In this sense, the Electrica Group will continue to pursue the expansion of the portfolio in the field of electricity production from renewable sources.

In early February, Electrica completed the acquisition of the project company Green Energy Consultancy & Investments, the developer of the Vulturu solar project. The 12 MW solar project is located near the Vulturu village in Vrancea county.

The project is in the ready-to-build phase. The final price was determined by adjusting the estimated total price according to the authorized production capacity, based on a contractually established calculation formula.

The transactions are part of the Electrica Group’s strategy established for the period 2019-2023, which also considers the expansion of the electricity value chain, especially in the area of electricity production from renewable sources.
