Electricity production increased in the first four months of this year, with 964.4 million kWh or 4.8%, while final consumption was 1.6% lower than in the corresponding period of 2013. During January-April 2014, electricity production was over 21.32 billion KWh, up 869.1 million KWh (+4.2%) compared to the corresponding period of 2013.
According to National Institute of Statistics, increased electricity resource was mainly due to increased production, with 964.4 million KWh (+4.8%).
Production of power plants was 9.84 billion kWh, up 601.8 million KWh (+6.5%). The hydroelectric production was about 5.19 billion kWh, an increase of 117.6 million kWh (+2.3%) and the production of nuclear power was about 4.07 billion kWh, an increase of 26 0 million kWh (+0.6%).
Production of wind power in the first four months was over 1.80 billion kWh, a decrease of 15 million kWh over the same period last year, while solar photovoltaic systems produced in this period was 295.8 million KWh, up by 234 million kWh in the same period of 2013.
Final consumption of electricity in the national economy was about 16.95 billion kWh, 1.6% lower than in the corresponding period of 2013.Public lighting decreased by 23.1%, while household consumption fell 3%.
Electricity export was 1.79 billion kWh, an increase of 1.35 billion KWh.Own consumption in networks and stations was 2.58 billion kWh, down 203.6 million KWh, ie 7.3%. During January-April 2014, primary energy resources increased by 2.7%.
The main primary energy resources totaled 10.41 million tonnes of oil equivalent (toe), up to 273 200 toe period 1 January to 30 April 2013. Domestic production totaled 7.17 million toe, down 3.6% compared to the same period last year, while imports were 3.23 million toe, up 20.2%.
