ENEVO Group has signed a major EPC contract with Austrian renewable energy developer Kraftfeld for the construction of a utility-scale battery energy storage system in Draganesti-Olt, southern Romania. The agreement marks a further expansion of ENEVO’s presence in the regional energy storage market.
Under the contract, Kraftfeld will lead project development, while ENEVO Group will handle the full scope of engineering, procurement, and construction works. This includes the design and build of the facility, as well as the associated high-voltage substation and grid connection infrastructure.
The planned battery energy storage system will have a capacity of 110 MW power output and 220 MWh storage capacity. It is designed to store excess electricity during periods of high generation and release it back into the grid when demand rises or market conditions require additional supply.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commercial operation expected in early 2027. Once completed, the project will significantly contribute to Romania’s growing energy storage infrastructure and strengthen ENEVO Group’s portfolio of battery projects in the region.
Following the signing of this agreement, ENEVO Group’s combined pipeline of operational and under-construction storage assets has surpassed 1 GWh, highlighting its rapid expansion in the sector.
Kraftfeld, headquartered in Vienna, continues to expand its renewable energy footprint across Central and Eastern Europe, focusing on large-scale solar and battery storage investments.
