Helleniq Energy has installed the first turbine at its 96 MW wind project in Romania’s Galati county, marking the start of the main equipment-assembly phase.
The project is designed with 15 turbines. Two more could be installed by mid-August if weather conditions permit. Civil and electrical construction is already well advanced: every turbine foundation has been completed, access roads are in place and the 33 kV cable system has been installed.
Helleniq Renewables, the clean-energy subsidiary of Greece’s Helleniq Energy group, is developing the wind farm. Commercial operation is planned for 2027.
The project expands a Romanian portfolio that began generating earlier in 2026, when the company commissioned two solar plants in Teleorman and Olt counties with a combined capacity of 58 MW.
A further 153 MW of photovoltaic capacity is expected to enter service during 2026. Including projects still under development, Helleniq Energy’s Romanian pipeline and operating portfolio exceeds 850 MW across solar, wind and battery storage.
