According to the latest report of the Romanian National Prognosis Committee (CNP), natural gas production in Romania will increase by 4.5 % in the next three years, while gas imports will remain approximately the same.
Natural gas production will rise from 8.35 million tons of oil equivalent in 2016 to 8.46 million tons of oil equivalent in 2017, which is an annual increase of 1.3 %. It will rise by further 1.5 % in 2018, reaching 8.58 million tons of oil equivalent and additional 1.7 % in 2019, when the production will reach 8.73 million tons of oil equivalent.
At the same time, natural gas imports will remain the same and will reach 290,000 tons of oil equivalent in 2019. It will represent 2.4 % of total primary energy resource imports in 2017 and 2018 and 2.3 % in 2019.
Energy resources in Romania will reach 42.065 million tons of oil equivalent in 2017, which is 1.2 % more compared to this year. In the following years, energy resources in will continue to rise by 1.3 % annually.
