GDF Suez Energy Romania built a new natural gas distribution network in Bucharest, made of high density polyethylene, under reduced pressure, a length of 86.4 km, with 3954 connections. The company also expanded medium pressure network with 16 new polyethylene sections, respectively 66 km, injecting gas under medium pressure in the downtown. This extension will allow the optimum power customers in central Bucharest, said Bogdan Valter, Director Regulatory and Public Affairs.
GDF Suez Energy Romania announced the completion of two projects to modernize the gas network co-financed from European funds through unprotected steel cathode upgrading and development of the medium pressure. Sectoral Operational Programme Increase of Economic Competitiveness ,, ” co-funded by European Regional Development Fund, was conducted in the period between 22 May 2012 – February 29, 2016, in Bucharest and Ilfov county, the project ,, Upgrading of gas natural – Increased technical capacity of the natural gas distribution system in Bucharest by the development of the medium pressure. ” co-financed from European funds. The overall objective of the project was to increase the technical capacity of the natural gas distribution system by expanding the network under medium pressure with sections 16 new polyethylene, high density, with a length of 66 km. The total project was 98,849,357.71 lei, of which financial assistance grant totaled 9,230,554 lei (EU contribution amounting to 8,122,887.52 lei and Government contribution 1,107,666.48 lei worth ).
The second project completed – ,, Upgrading of natural gas – Increased operational safety of natural gas distribution networks in Bucharest by upgrading unprotected steel cathode ” was conducted between May 15, 2012 – February 29, 2016 in Bucharest. Co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the total value of the project was 65,152,444 lei, of which financial assistance grant totaled 6,064,832 lei lei (EU contribution amounting to 5,337,053.04 lei and Government contribution worth 727,779.96 lei). The overall objective of the project was the upgrading of natural gas with an advanced degree of wear and cathode can not be protected in order to increase the operational reliability of the distribution network. The length of the gas distribution network upgraded to the project is 86.4 km and the number of connections connected to this network is 3954, according to GDF Suez Energy Romania.
