Greenvolt Group has secured €58.5 million in project financing to advance the next stage of development for a new onshore wind farm in southeastern Romania. The project, planned near Sacele in the Dobrogea region, will have a total capacity of 48.9 MW.
The financing was provided by Erste Group Bank AG and Banca Comercială Română (BCR), reinforcing the project’s financial foundation as construction is already underway. The wind farm is expected to be completed and operational by the second quarter of 2026.
The Sacele project is part of Greenvolt’s broader strategy in central and eastern Europe, where Romania plays a key role in the company’s growth plans. The group emphasizes the region’s importance for decarbonization efforts, as well as for enhancing national energy security and reducing reliance on imported fuels.
Greenvolt has developed a substantial renewable energy portfolio in Romania, including 555 MW of wind projects, 77 MW of solar capacity, and 156 MW of battery storage. In addition, through Greenvolt Next, the group is active in the distributed generation sector, delivering on-site renewable energy solutions to corporate and industrial clients.
By combining large-scale renewable generation, flexible storage, and decentralized energy solutions, Greenvolt is positioning itself as a growing player in Romania’s energy transition, supporting the resilience and sustainability of the electricity system.
