Portuguese renewable energy developer Greenvolt Group has arranged 348 million euros in financing to support the construction of a 253.1 MW wind farm in Ialomita county, southeastern Romania.
The funding package was structured with the participation of major financial institutions, including UniCredit Bank, Erste Group Bank, Raiffeisen Bank, Societe Generale, BRD Groupe Societe Generale, and Siemens Bank. The arrangement also includes supplementary credit facilities tied to the project.
Although the wind farm was sold to Engie Romania in late 2025, Greenvolt will continue to oversee development activities through its subsidiary Greenvolt Power. The company remains responsible for engineering, construction, and commissioning until the facility reaches commercial operation, at which point the transaction with Engie will be finalized.
The Ialomita project ranks among the largest privately developed renewable energy ventures currently under construction in Romania, with commercial operations scheduled to begin in 2027.
Greenvolt maintains a substantial pipeline in the Romanian market, including 555 MW of wind projects, 77 MW of solar capacity, and 156 MW of battery storage under development.
