Helleniq Energy is accelerating its renewable energy expansion in Romania, with construction advancing on a new 96 MW wind farm in Galați County as the company strengthens its position in Southeast Europe’s clean energy sector.
The project is being developed by Helleniq Renewables and has already entered an important construction phase, with 8 out of 15 turbine foundations completed. The wind farm will use turbines supplied by Vestas and is expected to become fully operational in 2027.
This investment is part of a broader strategy to scale up renewable capacity in Romania. Earlier in 2026, the company commissioned its first operational assets in the country, bringing online two solar power plants in Teleorman and Olt counties with a combined capacity of 58 MW.
In addition, further renewable projects totaling 153 MW are currently under development and are expected to reach commercial operation during 2026, further strengthening the company’s near-term growth pipeline.
Romania has become a key expansion market for Helleniq Energy, with its local development portfolio now exceeding 850 MW. This pipeline includes a mix of wind, solar, and energy storage projects, reflecting the company’s strategy to build a diversified renewable energy platform across the region.
