Romanian, hydro-based electricity producer Hidroelectrica plans to completely diversify its generation portfolio in coming years, by investing in renewable energy projects.
Hidroelectrica’s CEO Bogdan Badea said that, in this regard, the company is currently analyzing and reviewing solar and wind project in total capacity of over 2 GW.
According to him, Hidroelectrica is launching tenders for the development of feasibility studies for solar power plants, which it plans to develop on the company-owned land. It is also considering the construction of floating solar power plants on its accumulations.
Regarding wind segment, Badea said that the company is very interested in offshore wind projects, and is awaiting for legislative framework to be adopted in order to start with these projects.
So far, Hidroelectrica has one operational RES facility – 108 MW Crucea wind farm, acquired in December last year.
