Romanian electricity producer Hidroelectrica, in December will start electricity production at Bretea hydropower plant in Hunedoara, which is an investment worth 58 MEUR. The new facility built on the river Strea has installed power of 12 MW and 62% had already been done.
Hidroelectrica wants to build seven hydropower plants on the River Strea. The company estimates that the total investment will be 420 MEUR.
Between 2012th and 2014th, the company has invested 270 MEUR in new projects.
For the next five years, Hidroelectrica has an investment budget of 1.3 billion EUR. Of this amount, 450 MEUR will be used for ongoing projects Racovita, Bretea, Rastolita, Siriu -Surduc, Dumitru-Bumbeşti; 350 MEUR will be invested in upgrading the four hydropower plants of high-capacity, while 240 MEUR will be allocated for maintenance. Another 300 MEUR will be invested in new capacity that will use RES.
Hidroelectrica has been in bankruptcy since 2012th and the company loses money because of several large contracts for the electricity sale, which is below the market price. , transmits Serbia-energy.eu
