According to a report published by BP, Romania‟s hydro-based electricity production increased by 21.2 % last year, compared to 2017, reaching 4 million tons of oil equivalent.
EU largest hydro energy producer was Finland, with 14.5 million tons of oil equivalent, an increase of 30.5 % compared to the previous year. Sweden followed, with 14 million tons of oil equivalent (- 4.7 %) and Italy with 10.4 million (+ 33 %).
Worldwide, hydro-based electricity production increased by 3.1 % to 948.8 million tons of oil equivalent. China is ranked first in the world with a production of 272.1 million tons of oil equivalent last year, an increase of 3.2 %.
