The five-year PPA with French construction company Saint-Gobain will start in January 2026
French construction firm Saint-Gobain has signed a five-year PPA in Romania with OMV Petrom.
This contract covers the purchase of green electricity from wind and solar provided by Romanian energy supplier OMV Petrom and will start in January 2026.
Under the agreement, OMV Petrom will provide around 800GWh of electricity for five years.
This contract, combined with a solar park currently in the final stage of development at the Călărași glass plant, will cover 100% of Saint-Gobain’s electricity needs in Romania, the company said.
Saint-Gobain Romania has 14 industrial sites in the country, covering glass, insulation, plasterboard, and construction chemicals activities.
This contract is the second PPA signed by Saint-Gobain in Romania and will contribute to Saint-Gobain’s strategy of reducing its carbon footprint in the country in line with the Group’s net zero carbon emissions goal by 2050.
