The average electricity price on the day-ahead market of Romania’s OPCOM power exchange reached 150.51 euros/MWh in January 2026. This represents a 7.74% increase compared to January 2025 and a 27.94% rise from the previous month, when the average baseload price was 117.64 euros/MWh.
The traded volume on the day-ahead market totaled 1.52 million MWh in January. This was 7.75% lower year-on-year but 3.63% higher than in December. The average hourly traded volume during the month stood at 2,044.2 MWh/h.
The total transaction value reached 236.1 million euros in January, marking a 3.38% decrease compared to the same month last year, when it amounted to 244.3 million euros. However, it was 34.69% higher than in the previous month, which recorded 175.3 million euros. The share of the day-ahead segment in forecasted net consumption was 32.04%.
On the intraday market, a total of 160,045.5 MWh was traded in January. This volume was 12% lower than in January 2025 and 6.57% below December levels. The average intraday price reached 160.9 euros/MWh, up 21.25% year-on-year and 30.99% higher compared to the previous month.
