Petromidia refinery in Navodari was offline since mid-March, while Vega refinery in Ploiesti partially reduced its production activity for a series of turnaround works and due to the reduction of raw and semi-finished materials delivered by the Petromidia refinery. Rompetrol Rafinare, a part of KMG International Group, announced that it has successfully completed the turnaround of its Petromidia oil refinery and has initiated the restart of the production units.
The statement from the company said that the plant will gradually reach its nominal capacities, which will be carried out simultaneously with the resumption of production processes at the company’s second refinery Vega.
In 2019, Rompetrol Rafinare recorded a consolidated gross turnover of approximately 5.2 billion dollars, close to that achieved in 2018. The company’s operational profit decreased by 12 % to 131 million dollars, while its net consolidated loss amounted to over 48 million dollars. For the first time in its 40-year history, the Petromidia refinery has exceeded the threshold of 6 million tons – 6.33 million tons, a historical record. Also, the Vega Ploiesti refinery recorded record numbers 436,000 tons compared to the 406,000 processed in 2018. Due to the volumes of raw material processed, the distribution segment registered significant increases in terms of fuel marketing. Thus, in 2019, total fuel sales increased by 5 %, from 2.38 million tons in 2018, to 2.5 million tons, last year.
