Real estate developer Portland Trust has sold the largest solar power plant currently under development in Romania, with an authorized production capacity of over 153 MW and an estimated total area of over 165 hectares, located
in Ratesti, Arges County, to Econergy and Nofar Energy. The transaction should be completed by the end of October 2021.
According to PeliParners, which assisted in the sale process, the total investment needed to bring the solar power plant online is about 120 million euros. The procedure started in early 2021, with state-owned electricity producer Hidroelectrica being one of the potential buyers.
Nofar Energy is the third-biggest Israeli renewable energy player focusing on solar energy and energy storage, while Ecoenergy is a developer of renewable energy projects based in the UK and operating in Spain, Italy, Poland and Romania.
According to electricity transmission system operator Transelectrica, the solar power plant should be commissioned by the end of 2022.
